#IndoreSmartCity : Rajwada Resonates Development

The involvement of people of the city is overwhelming and the response is thundering. Many suggestions and ideas are pouring from citizens given a better idea of what minute yet important detailing and development is required. The spectrum is growing wider and efforts are in full swing to bring the desired change. Below are some of the suggestions which caught attention and if implemented can prove to make things more smooth.
  • Wifi: As per the opinion of the people, it is important to provide internet hot spot at Rajwada as various apps can be used to make the moving and shopping around more feasible and convenient.
  • E-Rickshaw: Many citizens have supported this idea and are of opinion in area like rajwada getting a transport is not easy. So getting a rickshaw with a click is more than welcome.
  • Public Toilet: This is rather an important suggestion, opinion states being in a place for few hours whether for business or shopping, requirement of clean washroom is necessary and mandatory.
  • Cleanliness: This is the need of every area but in Rajwada specifically because the cleaner the better and pleasant experience.
  • Food Court: This has been the voice of entire city perhaps, a food court dedicated to only Indori junk food at best price.
The main focus under the retrofit would be to improve the quality of life and provide smart solutions benefitting the area and the entire city. “Existing structures will remain largely intact and infrastructure development will be carried to give a facelift to area.” says civic official.

#IndoreSmartCity – Rajwada, The Commercial Point

Indore is a city of happiness, development and improvement!
Of all the point mentioned above Indore is always striving to improvise upon its existing facilities and amenities. And from the time it has been competing for the status of #SmartCity, the city is galloping on the path of providing better living and striving for greater development. The crux of development is to give a new face to city layout and planning. After a lot of thought and consideration, the municipal corporation has zeroed on the heart of the city for Retrofitting.
Well, Rajwada is the perfect place for Retrofitting. It is highly commercial area and along with it comes commotion and chaos. A proper layout and planning shall provide a very smooth functioning. Technical plan can easily be ready but what is more important is the human aspect. Thus, comes the rigorous surveys and meeting with the citizens of the area. It is crucial to know what kind of inconveniences are faced on daily basis  and  what changes are necessary and people want to see in the entire framework on priority.
The business circle of the entire central part of the city actively participated and voiced their opinions and views to the honourable Mayor, Commissioner and other members. It is important to note that both the side are actively participating for the betterment and development.

#IndoreSmartCity - Factors Propelling Ahead

Awareness and awakening are two important ingredients of any successful economy and society. Being aware of the trends and awakening to the change is crux of progress and development. #SmartCity is that phase of awareness and awakening which will propel the country into the phase advance and growth. It is a competition amongst the states of India; for some states, it is just another mission while for others it’s a matter of future and gain.
Madhya Pradesh is one of those states that has understood the gravity of the vision and is endeavouring to make it a success for its people and region. The competition is healthy; both the state capital and commercial capital are competing to make it to the goal of #SmartCity. The enterprising spirit of the commercial heart of Madhya Pradesh which is Indore is worth a praise. Below is a bird view of why Indore is fetching the adulation and accolades.
Digital Identity: Social media is growing by leaps and bound and the two tycoons of it are Facebook and Twitter. One needs to have a strong digital identity in order to reach out to people easily and #IndoreSmartCity is just doing that. The facebook community fb.com/IndoreSmartCityOfficial has 50K+ members and still counting, Twitter has 1400+ Followers which is increasing every moment too. Both the platforms are being managed efficiently, regular updates and information are being posted; and if any query then the answer is prompt as well. The social branding has been appreciated by media nationally. Such accolades are not easy to get and #IndoreSmartCity has clearly hoisted its flag in social domain.

Offline Identity: This is the old school of promotion but still a crucial and important one. The element of personal interaction gives that much needed positive vibes and the hold of reality, regarding the presence in real world. #IndoreSmartCity has been successful in reaching to its people both in virtual and real arena. Many offline activities like painting competition, MP Foundation Day Celebration, Run for Unity and many other such initiatives have proved the love Indoris have towards their city by coming together and vouching to bring the change. This phenomenal contribution from people is yet to be seen in any city perhaps.

System Involvement: Honourable Mayor of Indore, Mrs. Malini Laxmansingh Gaur is involved at every level of interaction and activities. Be it consultation with citizens from various spheres or attending activities and encouraging people to get more and more involvement. This level of dedication and hard work is commendable and making round of daily coverage in newspapers as well.
Above are the three predominant factors in which Indore is getting ahead comparatively. If you have any other aspects in mind then come forward, share your views and reviews, and contribute in the building of #IndoreSmartCity

#IndoreSmartCity – Retrofitting Area Development of Rajwada

India is on the path of growth and development, every state and its city is striving to keep the pace with changing trend of progress. Cities accommodate nearly 31% of India's current population and contribute 63% of GDP (Census 2011). Urban areas are expected to house 40% of India's population and contribute 75% of India's GDP by 2030. This requires comprehensive development of physical, institutional, social and economic infrastructure. This requirement of growing India has led to the adoption of smart city concept. Involving every state the vision for a smart city is innovative and revolutionary.
There are many strategic features which if implemented in cities then life will become convenient and improvised. One such feature is ‘Retrofitting’ a very fancy name with a very modern concept, it will introduce planning in an existing built-up area. Retrofitting is the process of modifying something after it has been manufactured; this method will help to achieve Smartcity. In simple words, it’s a process whereby renovation is done as per the needs and demands without changing the very basic structure. If this gets implemented then it can prove to be a great hack for many facilities and amenities.
Like all the other states even Madhya Pradesh is in the race too; Indore is one of the city nominated for the prestigious tag. If Indore makes through then it will be very interesting as the commercial point of the city, Rajwada would be revamped. As rebuilding the entire area from scratch is not feasible.
What Linking road is to Mumbai, Rajwada is to Indore. This zone of the city is always hustling and bustling with people and vendors and buyers. Anyone who has ever visited Rajwada, the narrow lanes and bylanes will observe that they are buzzing with life and commotion at the same time. It is very important to make the whole of Rajwada market more seller and buyer friendly.
The proposed plan is to develop proper drainage system, water supply and put all the electricity cables underground.  Some of the streets will be declared as 'no-vehicle zone' and new parking areas will be developed. The project will try to create new open spaces in the area under the project. There are plans to develop heritage walk around heritage buildings and structures.
Rajwada, is the landmark of the city, and if, it will witness development under retrofitting it will also cover nearby markets, streets, Krishnapura, Subhash Marg, Bada Ganpati, Sarafa, Khajuri Bazaar, Jawahar Marg, Bajajkhana Chowk, Bartan Bazaar, Aada Bazaar, Sitlamata Bazaar and PY Road. Rajwada retrofitting area: 674 acre with the capital investment area based retrofitting proposed is Rs.3.5 cr/ acre and total cost of retrofitting is estimated RS. 2,359 cr.

This is just a part of the entire plan and if Indore gets through, then intelligent and smart living would be the order of the day. So if you have any other suggestion then come forward and share your views and reviews and contribute in the building of #IndoreSmartCity.

#IndoreSmartCity – Celebrate Smart Diwali

This is that time of the year when the city of Indore is buzzing with liveliness and happiness. Every face reflects the joy and fervor of the season. Every house, street and lane is lit up as the festival of light is round the corner. As a matter of the fact this is the very correct and apt time to show the prowess of smart citizen, whatever has been preached need to be practiced now. A festival spirit is doubled when the happiness and sweetness is shared and responsibility of a good citizen is fulfilled at the same time. A little awareness and precaution can make this Diwali truly a festival of light for many.
As a smart and responsible citizen, below are the few measures that can be taken to enjoy Diwali as much as possible.
·         Bursting Crackers: These are integral part of the festival and one cannot part with it easily. Slowly and steadily the change will come and till then precautions need to be taken. Only if these crackers are burst in excess they cause non-acceptance in the society; anything within the limit is never minded. So burst crackers but with smartness and within the realm of enjoyment and not annoyance of others.
·         Noise Pollution:  Anyways the decibels during diwali are soaring high and traffic jam adds to the noise. Be a smart citizen and keep patience, honking continuously shall not clear the jam but irritate you further. Every person is in hurry to be home, even that traffic personnel handling the commotion, so little understanding and co-operation can make the festival more joyous for everyone.
·         Stray Animals: No matter how much one cribs about these stray animals but one should not forget that these are living being too. Be a smart citizen and don’t let people bully these animals, tying a cracker to their tail or bursting crackers near them is just not acceptable. The momentary pleasure is lifelong pain for these animals.
·         Cleanliness:  This is a very grave issue that has always been a matter of concern after celebration of any festival. Having fun is perfectly fine but at the cost of environment is not much appreciated. Be a smart citizen this Diwali, collect the garbage of the crackers you burst and encourage your neighbour to do the same. This small gesture can avoid the unclean sight the very next morning.
·         Sharing is Caring: Share the happiness with less fortunate people and give them an opportunity to enjoy as well. Be a smart citizen and give a off to your helpers at home and as a gesture of  appreciation give them bonus in advance so that they too can fulfill the demand of their family on time.
·         Safety: Safety of oneself, family and others is a priority. It is surely a festival but there are times when one gets carried away and tries dare devil stunts with crackers. Be a smart citizen and make sure crackers not being lit if a vehicle or people are in vicinity and refrain young children around you from playing with crackers as it is not only dangerous for themselves but for others as well.

#IndoreSmartCity wishes that above mentioned steps are stepping stone towards the goal of being a smart citizen. If you have any other suggestions feel free to share your views and reviews and contribute in the building of #IndoreSmartCity. Moreover, #IndoreSmartCity wishes everyone a very Happy, Prosperous and Safe Diwali.

#SmartCity - Smart Citizens

#SmartCity will be the new age city with all kinds of benefits and convenience. The administration has taken upon itself to work hard and implement all the needed measures to remain in the league of #SmartCity. However, citizens too have certain commitments towards their city and need to come forward and join hands with the administration. Only if both the sides work in harmony and complement each other then the tag of #SmartCity shall not be too far for any city.
Indore too is in the league and the citizens are putting all their efforts and taking initiatives to reach the goal and fulfil the dream of being #SmartCity . Hence proving them to be smart citizen of #SmartCity.
Cleanliness: Young citizens have taken upon themselves to keep the city clean and green. For instance in Aurobindo College a cleanliness drive was carried out in the earlier part of the year, Clean Indore Initiative is a group of 70 active youngsters who have taken upon them to do something instead of lamenting. These are some of the example of how people are becoming smart in their approach towards their city and living.
Business: Young entrepreneurs are fetching the benefits of vast population of the city and are coming up with new ventures. This in turn has opened the doors of opportunities and has given a boost to the economic base as well. Thus, people in Indore are becoming smart and are practicing the concept of maximum utilisation of human resources.
Alternative Energy: Many citizens have realised the importance and benefits of solar energy and have installed solar plants in townships and houses. Townships like Shalimar and houses in Saify Colony can be seen with solar plant. These steps prove citizen are waking to needs of the hour and becoming smart citizens.
Planting Trees: Every single person in Indore is well aware of importance of trees. Plants are very common sight in balconies and well-maintained gardens. In residential colony, the community takes on its shoulders to plant trees thereby reducing the burden on the administration.
Education: The literacy rate of the city is around 75% and many young students and professional takes the responsibility of going to slums and teaching children there. As they strongly believe in the ideology of ‘padega India toh Badhega India’.
So are you doing something which is contributing towards the building of #IndoreSmartCity? If yes, then come forward, share your views, ideas and opinions, and help Indore to reach its goal.

#IndoreSmartCity - Responsibility

#SmartCity mission is the mission of every citizen in every city. Every citizen (of the cities nominated in first hundred) is thrilled and optimistic to make it to the first 20; by now the concept of #SmartCity is crystal clear and so its rewards. But the most important thing is smart citizens who understand the importance of development and progress and willingly taking responsibility of making the city smart.
Indore too is in the league and is putting all its efforts online and offline to fit the bill of being a perfect city. But the biggest contribution is flowing from its people who are willingly volunteering to lift the city to the stature of being smart. In order to do so, there are certain guidelines a city needs to abide by, in order to be in the competition. Indore and its people have taken upon them to follow the guidelines and give their best effort in order to be the #IndoreSmartCity
Following are some of the Pointers:
·         Keep the City Clean: Making an effort to keep the public space and neighbourhood litter free. This in turn will prevent breeding of any kind of germs and diseases.
·         Use of Renewable Energy: It’s a known fact that natural resources are depleting and the only hope is to use renewable source of energy as much as possible. Like responsible citizen, one should avoid wasting water & electricity unnecessarily and save as much as possible.
·         Digitalisation: Time is everything and in todays fast pace life maximum work should be done online; as this will also aid in saving trees and environment.
·         Treatment of Wastage: Waste treatment refers to the activities required to ensure that waste has the least practicable impact on the environment.
·         Adoption of Eco-Friendly Habits: Avoid use of plastic, opting for e-bills and many such small steps can give birth to an eco-friendly society.
·         Development of Parks and Open Spaces: These spaces serve as recreational grounds for children, walking tracks for health conscious people and an apt space for planting trees and spreading greenery.
·         Following Traffic Rules: Traffic rules are for the safety of people and following it can save many from road mishaps.
·         Smart Parking: Proper parking space at strategic points can avoid the commotion and chaos.
·         Medical Facilities: Medical facilities should be made free for below the poverty line and government hospitals should be well maintained with adequate staff and infrastructure.

The list continues; it’s a two way process and can only be possible if both the sides help each other. The logic is simple implementation by the government and obligation by the citizens. And if this process takes place in harmony then there is no looking back. Indorians are giving their full support and the way the path is being treaded, Indore will soon be #IndoreSmartCity

#IndoreSmartCity - Connectivity

Development with technology is the order of the day and without it, one may lag far behind. Every country has embraced the new mode of development and progress. Every sphere is technologically driven for better and faster result. Another boom of technology is Internet and unlike earlier access to internet is easier. Moreover with digitalisation, life is becoming convenient and communication too has raised its bar.
Digital India is a vision of Honourable Prime Minister for easy communication and connection. 2500 cities are likely to provide wi-fi hot spots across the city and Indore is included in the list. According to the information available with the Digital India website, the government plans to extend coverage of the information infrastructure nationally by March 2017 at a cost of Rs 15,686 crores.
Digital India will be a powerful catalyst to empower the society to be ahead and at the same time will give boost to every sector. Till date Bengaluru has become the first city in India to have free wi-fi hotspots and even Park Street in Kolkata provide the facility of free connectivity. It is a break through and if Indore too joins the league then it will be able to fulfil another criterion to be in the league of #SmartCity.

So if you have any suggestion or ideas or views then come forward and share; help and contribute in the building of #IndoreSmartCity. Your suggestions are invited at - bit.ly/IndoreSmartCity_Suggestions

#IndoreSmartCity - Celebration

More the festival more the fun, festivity and happiness!
Festivals are the life of any society and it adds much of the colour and fervour to otherwise mundane life. Indore is one of the city which clearly and proudly reflects the concept of unity and diversity. The city starts celebrating right from Makar Sankranti in the beginning of the year to Christmas in the end of the year. So in a way Indore is celebrating throughout the year with equal zest, enthusiasm and cheerfulness. The spirit with which these festivals are celebrated is commendable.
Every festival celebrated gives a message and Indoris embrace it open heartedly. This signifies that secularism dwells in every heart irrespective of caste, creed and community.
Makar Sankranti will see every third person flying kite instilling the spirit of healthy competition, Anant Chaudas see people coming together and celebrating; whereas Eid brings the sweetness of togetherness and Diwali along with Christmas marks the festival of light and serenity. Round the year, celebration mode is on emulating the very spirit of the city.
Being together in times of happiness doubles the effect and so if every person comes together and voice their opinion and views, the happiness will double when Indore becomes #IndoreSmartCity. So come and contribute in the building of dream Indore.

#IndoreSmartCity - Cleanliness

Cleanliness is next to Godliness; keeping the same in mind, the honourable Prime Minister started with the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Every state and its people need to join hands to make their state and city clean and the country will be ultimately cleaned. As hygiene needs to be maintained at every place, be it public or private institutions, parks, offices or sanitation.
Sanitation is a matter of great concern, personal and private toilets are kept spick and span but when it comes to public sanitation not even one percent of cleanliness is maintained. The blame game continues but aren’t being the responsible citizen, a helping hand should be offered from the citizen side, so as to maintain the basic hygiene in public sanitation. The system is managing but only with the cooperation of the citizens.
Indore and Indorians are very much involved in this initiative and have joined hands to make a difference. Long back Gautampura in Indore district have become open area defecation-free town. Moreover, many schools and their students have come forward to spread the awareness and importance of clean and hygienic public sanitation. Besides, residents of Indore can send their sanitation and garbage complaints online and this service has been activated since, September2014.
So if you have any suggestions for improvisation then come forward and share your opinions and views and contribute in the building of #IndoreSmartCity.

#IndoreSmartCity - Renewable Energy

Nature is a great source of energy and resources but anything used in excess can only lead to depletion and downfall. Right from the beginning, it has been mother earth and nature helping humanity to lead a comfortable life with all luxuries and opulence. Hence, as a result, the resources are decreasing with high rate and its restoration is a long term process. So all countries came to understanding and conclusion that an alternative is mandatory and ‘Renewable Energy’ is need of the hour.
Many Countries have majorly adopted use of renewable energy and India too is not far behind. In this connotation, it would be interesting to point out that in Indore itself many industries, hotels and houses have opted for solar energy. “According to experts, for domestic use a minimum of 1500 watt panel is required, which can extend up to even 3200 watt depending on requirement. In Indore, these three plants are located at houses in Gulmohar Colony, Shalimar Township and New Palasia.” Also, Radisson Blu, uses solar and wind energy and then this particular businessman, recently set up a 10-panel solar power plant at roof top of high rise residential building in Shalimar Township. The panel has a capacity of 2250-watt electricity generation and it generates 7-8 units per day. A gradual change has begun and with time, entire city will be revolutionised.
The best part of using renewable source of energy is that it is cheap and the source is available in abundance. Indore has always kept pace with changing trend and need of the hour. The transition has begun and soon every single building, factories, townships, etc. shall indulge in smart living. Thus, fulfilling one of the criteria to be in the league of #SmartCity

#IndoreSmartCity - Medical Facility

“Health is Wealth” an old saying and very much apt even today. A healthy society is progressive and active. Indore endorses for being a centre of health care and India's first medical institution, Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital, which was established in the city in early 1848.  It was the Asia's largest government hospital then, with 1200 beds, and it has remained the largest public hospital in the state. And this fact invariably reflects the amount of weightage is given to medical care and facility in the city of Indore right from the beginning.
Indore is home to 51 public health institutions and has a good number of private hospitals too. Government hospitals like M.Y Hospital and private hospitals are filled with dedicated staffs who work towards preventing contagious and infectious diseases. Hospitals are found across the length and breadth of the city catering to the needs of the people. Indore health consists of hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres, rehabilitation centres and maternity homes of the city. The ambulance services, X-ray clinics, chemists and doctors of the city also form an integral part of the health sector in Indore. Hence, giving a strong assurance to its people that Indore is equipped to take care with its top notch medical aid and hospitals.
Happy society is a sign of healthy society and Indore has been able to implement it. Medical facility is available for everyone, free or at economical charges at government hospitals. Thus, fulfilling one of the paradigms for being in the league of #SmartCity.

If you have any opinion regarding the medical facility offered in the city of Indore, then come forward and voice your opinion, share views and contribute in the building of #IndoreSmartCity at mygov.in

#IndoreSmartCity - Public Transport

The world has progressed by leaps and bound and communication via transport is constantly developing and emerging with every passing day. Transportation is the backbone of any continent and luckily, India is well connected by all means and modes of transportation. Similarly Madhya Pradesh is well connected and because of easy transport connection Indore is the commercial heart of Central India. Not only the commercial route but the city transport has been on the continuous mode of development.
Every Indori shall agree upon the fact that there has been a vast difference in commuting in past decade. The standards of public transport have been raised and private companies have stepped in too, to make life easier. Tempos, rickshaws and city vans have been taken over by Private Taxi, City Bus and iBus. However, after city bus and iBus gave a sigh of relief; the BRTS is 106 km long. The best part about the BRTS is- there is off board fare collecting system and contactless smart cards are issued too.
This is an age of technology, and technology has become evident in sphere; one of the criteria to be in the league of #SmartCity is, public transport should be technologically driven and economical at the same time. BRTS perfectly fits the bill and commuting has become simpler and easier. Every Indori shall vouch for the convenience BRTS has given at reasonable charges.

So if you agree or feel more can be done or improvised, then share your opinions, views and reviews and help in the building of #IndoreSmartCity

Kanch Mandir, Kishnapura Chhatris and Lalbagh Palace are epitome of not only beauty but also rich architecture. #IndoreSmartCity - Why

#IndoreSmartCity is now talk of the town. Every single Indori is keeping his/her fingers crossed. The kind of adulation #IndoreSmartCity has received online is commendable. Yet it may be possible some will doubt the practical implementation of such an ambitious project; if the same thing Watt Brothers would have thought then engine would have never come into functional state.

#IndoreSmartCity - Understanding

The ambitious project of #SmartCity is mainly an amalgamation of growth and development. The existing city framework needs either changes to fit the bill of smart city or a new complete city need to be built from a scratch. In this connotation, two words are often used ‘Retrofitting’ and ‘Redevelopment’ and not everyone is well versed with its meaning. The entire concept of smart city kind of revolves or rather has emerged because of these two mother concepts.
Retrofitting: The crux of this idea is to re-built the existing city area to achieve smart objectives. So that it becomes more efficient and liveable. With the aid of the citizen consultation, an area of 500 acres will be identified and depending on the existing level of infrastructure services in the identified area and the vision of the residents, the cities will prepare a strategic plan to become smart. Most of the structures would remain intact, so a large number of smart applications will be packed into the retrofitted smart city. This strategy may also be completed in a shorter period, leading to its replication in another part of the city.
Redevelopment:  A complete new creation of city power packed with modern infrastructure and informative communication technology. Redevelopment envisages an area of more than 50 acres, identified by Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in consultation with citizens. For instance, a new layout plan of the identified area will be prepared with mixed landuse, higher FSI and high ground coverage. The best examples of redevelopment are the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Project in Mumbai (also called the Bhendi Bazaar Project) and the redevelopment of East Kidwai Nagar in New Delhi being undertaken by the National Building Construction Corporation.
Other related term are Greenfield Development  which will introduce most of the Smart Solutions in a previously vacant area (more than 250 acres) using innovative planning, plan financing and plan implementation tools with provision for affordable housing, especially for the poor. The other term is Pan City; its development envisages application of selected Smart Solutions to the existing citywide infrastructure.

The common linking in all the terms are Infrastructure, Technology and Citizen Consultation. So it’s a request to people of Indore to come forward and share their views, reviews and contribute in the making of #IndoreSmartCity at fb.com/IndoreSmartCityOfficial
